Get into her head at your peril
This super “thinking” human and I collided recently at a personal-development fever dream, tucked into the rolling hills of Petaluma. The stars, fate, or possibly poor scheduling conspired to put us in the same orbit. She clocked me early one morning, before I even knew what time it was. A writer of sharp instruments no less, an introspective mind with both feet firmly planted in the inner abyss.
A human with a cause, awake at the wheel, and dangerous in the best possible way.The Playlist:
- Wild is the wind by David Bowie
- Blackbird by The Beatles
- Vienna by Billy Joel
- It’s going to get better by Genesis
- Mister Blue Sky by ELO
- Let’s dance by David Bowie
- I want you back by Hoodoo Gurus
- Private life by The Pretenders
- Gunslinger by Natalie Bergman

"... a lifetime of leaning into the skid..."
"... a lifetime of leaning into the skid..."
"... a lifetime of leaning into the skid..."
The Kitchen Sink isn’t a show. It’s an excavation. An elegant rummage through the dustbin of vinyl past, lovingly handled by a guy who makes nostalgia sound like a revolution, and has the culinary trauma to prove it. One of the last romantic DJs, Jean-Philippe, JP (yes, you may) equal parts flâneur, Londoner, and lapsed punk with a taste for torch songs and conversation. With regular guests, the tête-à-tête has no boundaries: like a good bouillabaisse: brooding, aromatic, and occasionally containing something still twitching. A bilingual raconteur with a palate for both the poetic and the putrid, he pilots his show like he once handled grinds in a forgotten London skate bowl: with the swagger of someone who’s spent his life learning to lean into the skid.
All instinct and improvisation, a symphony of scraped knees and glorious defiance. His musical tastes are the product of a childhood caught between the thin gravy of English restraint and the pinot-stained seduction of a French father whose idea of contraband was a found street sign claiming “Route du Beaujolais” smuggled under the back seat of his Peugeot.
This is radio as philosophy, broadcasting as a form of inquiry into what life can throw at you. In a world increasingly dominated by algorithmic recommendations and market-tested content, The Kitchen Sink offers something more valuable: the authentic voice of someone who has learned to pay attention, and is still seeking…
